Happy Birthday, Khan Noonien Singh!

Hey! We had the funding!

The world’s first genetically-modified humans have been created, it was revealed last night.

The disclosure that 30 healthy babies were born after a series of experiments in the United States provoked another furious debate about ethics.

So far, two of the babies have been tested and have been found to contain genes from three ‘parents’.

Fifteen of the children were born in the past three years as a result of one experimental programme at the Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Science of St Barnabas in New Jersey.

The babies were born to women who had problems conceiving. Extra genes from a female donor were inserted into their eggs before they were fertilised in an attempt to enable them to conceive.
Genetic fingerprint tests on two one-year- old children confirm that they have inherited DNA from three adults –two women and one man.

For the humor-impaired: No. I’m not worried about the creation of a race of supermen. I am outraged that our money class is treating human beings as products of manufacturing. In short, it is we who are acting like the arrogant supermen. The babies who will result from our tinkering are the victims, not the threat. May God solemnly damn this evil reduction of human beings to the level of technological artifacts. We just entered yet another “What could it hurt?” phase of human history. It’ll be a bit before we reach the “How were we supposed to know?” phase.

  • Is anyone else reminded of Malcolm’s line the movie Jurassic Park, “Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.”?

I just started rereading that book. It has, unfortunately, aged quite well.

As a neurodiversity activist, I am extremely scared about our new genetically enhanced artificial cousin species. It’s just another step on the slippery slope we started down with the 19th century Eugenics movement towards reducing the diversity of the human species.

Next up- Monsanto Brand Human Sex Slaves- Male or Female, bred to have ONLY thoughts about the person they are bonded to, and of course, completely infertile for your pleasure (and of course, so you can’t compete with us by breeding your own).

As a handy rule of thumb, don’t ever believe any thing the only the Daily Mail preceded to run. Do you really believe that not one other newspaper or TV station found this newsworthy? Try googling Jacques Cohen and the name of the institute where this supposedly happened. See how many news articles you can find on it.

It’s good to verify things you read in gossipy tabloids before getting upset about them.
