John McAfee…

…knows rather a lot about cyber-security. So when he calls the Obamacare site a hacker’s wet dream, I conclude that I will get my health coverage from some site like Medi-share.

Update: An earlier version of this post, now taken down with humble apologies, made a grossly reckless and inappropriate joke for which I sincerely apologize to Mr. McAfee.  I am, as many readers will heartily agree, an idiot. Mea culpa.  Mea culpa.  Mea maxima culpa.

Ah man, I missed the earlier version of this post!

McAfee did his important work in cyber security decades ago, before the web was much of a thing. There are plenty of computer security experts around whose expertise is current and who don’t have troubled relationships with law enforcement authorities in multiple countries.

If you want to lengthen your next confession, google the man’s video on removing McAfee antivirus software. Tremendously funny but oh so wrong in so many ways.

John hasn’t been a practicing member of the security community for ages now. I wouldn’t it much stock in his rather entertaining but not necessarily well-informed ideas on security.

Thank you for correcting your previous post.
You have shown you have more integrity than most of the media.
As to John’s knowledge, I was not aware that you have to publicly belong to a specific community in order to be taken seriously or acquire knowledge. Does this community have a secret handshake too?
As most so-called security experts will admit, social engineering is a hacker’s best tool. John McAfee is an expert in this field.

I was listening to Jay Leno last night for the first time in ages and he said that there were now over 700 phony healthcare websites. The joke, of course, is that the way you know you’re on a phony site is that it works!

There is, I believe, a Dateline or 48 Hours episode on John McAfee where you can get the scoop on him.

    Mark,

Concupiscence makes me want to know what inappropriate joke you made.

Every time you apologize (which I appreciate), I just really want to know what horrible thing you did, and how it could amuse me. Keep not telling me, for the sake of my soul.
