Color Me Skeptical

They’re making a movie about Tolkien and Lewis.

We’ll see.

    Long overdue

    Bad idea.

I think Hollywood is bound and determined to make Christopher Tolkien keel over dead from sheer rage and disgust.

Good that it is indie…The bad is that I do not think anyone could pull it off. I have little hope where actors are concerned. There are some good actors out there, but even ones nowadays from the stage are poorly prepared. And then, there are the accents. Few, especially among the kinds who go into acting come from a background in which Standard British is spoken. That has been taboo for several decades. It is no longer covered in drama training. Then, how do you make it interesting to watch. It is one thing to read their works but can one expect their lives to be as entertaing?

I’m VERY skeptical and not at all optimistic. However, I then remember that SHADOWLANDS was actually a good movie. Not great, but good, and definitely respected Lewis’s views and showed them well.
About the accents: Have you ever heard Tolkien speak? Standard British aside, the man was VERY hard to understand. He’d slowly semi-mumble the first half of his sentence, then finish the last half in a sprint. Without subtitles, I’d rarely understand anything he said.
