12 Years Ago Terri Schiavo Was Killed by Thirst

Food and water were re-defined as “extraordinary care” and she was denied them and left to die.

Prolife Christians very understandably spoke out against this.

Last year, a man named Terrill Thomas was being held in the jail of right wing culture war folk hero David Clarke. His jailers chose to cut off his water supply for a week and he died, exactly like Terri Schiavo, of agonizing thirst–except that he was not brain-damaged and felt every second of it.

Do you hear that gigantic prolife outcry on FOX, Talk radio, Limbaugh, Liesite News, National Review, and all those Catholic blogs that were in such an uproar over Terri Schiavo?

Yeah. Me neither.

If you grasp that exactly the same thing is at issue in the murder of this man as was at issue with Terri Schiavo, you understand a consistent life ethic. If you object to what was done to Terri Schiavo, but don’t care about this man or feel even the slightest compulsion to make excuses for it in order to defend your Culture War Folk Hero, then you are part of the problem.

This too is a prolife issue.
