Strange how the focus always returns to one particular spot

Since 9/11, atheist discourse has often followed this pattern:

Religion is what caused 9/11. And by religion, I mean Christianity, especially the Catholic Church.

This curious tendency to always return to anti-Catholicism as the real core of so-called “atheism” can, if the atheist polemicist is not careful, lead to some quirky alliances.

It always comes back to Jesus Christ and his Holy Church. Always.
