Sigh. Genesis is not a science book. It is not interested in scientific questions. It is not trying to answer science questions in the least. It is an extraoardionarily sophisticated piece of literature, but not sophisticated in ways immediately amenable to technology-minded moderns. It must be read on its terms, not on ours.
