of the Orientem blog, writes to tell me: I just learned of a blog by Maryknoll priests in Korea, who’ve been doing good works here for decades. Perhaps you could mention them in a post if it’s not too much of a bother. Here’s their website. Check thou it out. Read more

…of describing how wrong this is: My son… my own flesh and blood… created this… thing. I throw myself on the mercy of the human race. You’re out of the will, kid. Cow, Brutus and Charleston get the dinner and movie night out on my legacy once I croak. Also, I fully advocate the prosecution, jailing and execution of the creators of the xtranormal text-to-animation software and site. Torture is fine with me too. Read more

I’m off to KBLE AM 1050 to help Jerry Usher with the Spring Share-a-thon. It’s a worthy cause and I’m happy to be able to help. You can listen in (and support Catholic radio in the Pacific Northwest) here. Back tomorrow! Read more

…these polls. If you are a Catholic and you grasp the first thing about the implications of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, how can you be anything *but* hopeful? You believe that death–freakin’ death–has been conquered. Isn’t everything else kind of small beer in comparison? It’s one of the most baffling and telltale things about Rad Trads. I *expect* liberal Catholics who conceive of the faith as a social club to have their hopes wax and wane with the economy,... Read more

Five years ago, when the consequentialism of the Rubber Hose Right was riding high, Michael Ledeen wrote an infamous piece of “moral reasoning” (so-called) in which he basically argued “Wouldn’t we all be better off if Henry Tandey had just murdered the unarmed, wounded Hitler when he found him in trench in 1918?” I made the point that, if you are going to argue this way, then why not go whole hog and lobby for abortion rights for Klara Hitler?... Read more

Doug Kmiec continues to prostrate himself to Obama by offering cover for his abortion zeal here. What’s Wrong with the World offers the following translation of Kmiec’s remarks: “And listen, Gandalf, my old friend and helper!” he said, coming near and speaking now in a softer voice. “I said we, for we it may be, if you will join with me. A new Power is rising. Against it the old allies and policies will not avail us at all. There is... Read more

The Left continues to receive some rather disappointing body blows from the Obama Administration as it laughs off their earnest questions about prosecuting the Bushies for war crimes. The reason for that is simple. To draw too much attention to the radical abuses of power committed by the Bush Administration would be to draw attention to the fact that the radical abuses of power were protected and enabled by legal arguments and policies which the Obama Administration has every intention... Read more

In another “We have no King but Caesar” moment for the American Catholic academe, Georgetown covers up that tacky and embarrassing IHS symbol so that the glory of the One might be unrivaled by other Powers. People reply, “Don’t you think you’re making too much of such symbolism?” I reply, “A religious system is *nothing but* a symbol system (humanly speaking).” The symbolism of this gesture speaks volumes about the priorities of the current administration at Georgetown. Read more

Thank you for posting my link about the Iowa marriage amendment on your website. I agree that this marriage issue is only one symptom of the overall moral relativism dominating our society. If people really do think that “consent is the sole criterion of the good”, how should we argue against that notion? First, by learning Catholic social teaching and how to think in the terms the Church does. So, for instance, instead of allowing talk radio or NPR or... Read more
