Thankful Tuesday at the pool.

I’m on vacation. Sitting by the pool at my mother in law’s home, waiting for a procession of dear friends to arrive and depart all day long. What could be more lovely than sitting in a swim suit, drinking sparkling water, letting old friends come to me?

So I’ll keep Thankful Tuesday short today.

I’m thankful because I’ve lately been reminded of a prayer of St. Patrick that used to be a part of my daily prayer routine a few years ago. You can read it here. There is a piece of this prayer that is incredibly powerful to me. It has served for a while as my favorite reminder of Christ’s promises. This morning it’s swelling in my chest.

Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me.
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.

So, now I will wait for all these people I love and miss, those I moved away from just when our friendships were getting good, and remember that Christ is here “in hearts of all that love me.” But also in the mouths of strangers…

I’ll be thankful.

    Your day sounds wonderful!!!

I’m just thankful it’s not raining today (we’ve had a wetter than usual spring). I’m riding my bike with the babies in the trailer to Target to buy wipes and sippy cups. They’ll nap, I’ll get a workout and run my errand – perfect!

Micha! Your posts fill me with joy.

I am thankful you are having a pool vacation. Please tell me August is splashing around somewhere…slathered in SPF…

I’m thankful I can drink water again. I could not drink water for six weeks. I love water! (IV bags do not count as water.) (Also, they are very cold-making.) I am thankful I do not have stomach cancer, as far as anyone knows.

I’m thankful I have a job, and that I really respect and like the vast majority of people with whom I work.

I’m thankful I am writing, even if my writing is so often sucky. Shrug.

I’m thankful it’s summer in Chicago. There are music and movies outside everywhere, all the time! When we don’t have thunderstorms.

I’m thankful I am going to see Oxford Corey in Green Bay in a few weeks! Have not seen him in a couple of years. I’m thankful we’re collaborating with his photographer friend on a writing project I still don’t totally understand, but whatever, it should be fun homework.

I’m thankful John B is coming with me. I am thankful for John B in general. He let me vomit in his bathroom for weeks, and now that I can eat food, we just made amazing pork chops two days ago, for which I am thankful. I am thankful I allow kind people into my life despite my childhood. And no love to the haters.

I’m thankful your posts arrive in my inbox! You lift my spirits, and I miss you.
    xoxocaq
