Missional Shift
Here’s a recap of last week’s major highlights from the missional conversation:
Wild Goose Festival West Coast 2012 — The first-ever Wild Goose Festival on the West Coast took place over Labor Day weekend, and I was honored to be able to participate as part of the volunteer team. The Corvallis Gazette-Times had a nice write-up, and I’ve begun curating the many great photos, videos, blog posts, tweets, etc. More on that soon!- Brian McLaren’s New Book Bows on September 11 — One of the thrills of Wild Goose Festival West was getting to hear Brian McLaren speak — six times in one day (I think)! Brian gave a couple of solo workshops related to the content in his important new book Why Did Jesus, Moses, The Buddha, and Mohammed Cross The Road?: Christian Identity in a Multi-Faith World, as well as participating in several panel discussions, including one he hosted on the future of denominations (fascinating!). Brian is kicking off a national book tour in support of his new book, and I’ll be reviewing it here on Missional Shift later this week. Please buy this book and read it! This is controversial, critically important stuff to be wrestling with and considering, especially now.
- Parish Collective — Another highlight of Wild Goose West for me was getting to see, hear, and hang out with my dear, dear friends in the Parish Collective! If you are not yet familiar with this network of parish-based missional practitioners and communities, then you need to check them out. They challenge me, they inspire me. I love, love, LOVE these guys (and the amazing women who are leaders in it, as well, of course!).
