Some scriptures I heard discussed in a sermon today that are so relevant when we think about our relationships with those we care most about – especially in times such as the holiday season upon us, where we can get so carried away with our many to-do lists:
The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression. (King James Version)
Sensible people control their temper; they earn respect by overlooking wrongs. (New Living Translation)
Proverbs 19:11
For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. (King James Version)
Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. (New Living Translation)
James 1:20
Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife. (King James Version)
Better a dry crust eaten in peace, than a house filled with feasting—and conflict. (New Living Translation)
Proverbs 17:1 (New Living Translation)
