On Gratitude Pt. 2

As newcomers to the Eastern seaboard of what is now the United States, we were not especially kind to those who showed us how to take advantage of the land’s resources, nor to the land itself, even if supposedly there was this one day of sharing food together with the Native Americans. This is why Thanksgiving as a holiday has not had great meaning to me for quite sometime.

Now writing this, I view the holiday as an opportunity to at last show that gratitude, long over-due. I think it is also a good time to count our blessings of the year that is ending, both great and small.

–As I said, I am grateful for the resources the Earth grants us permission to use, under condition that we take care of the land.

–I am grateful for the writing opportunities I have, here at the Staff of Asclepius and on my other blog, the Savage Cauldron. (www.feministelemental.wordpress.com)

–I am grateful for all of the other Pagan bloggers out there, here on Patheos and elsewhere, who have lent me insight into my own life.

–I am grateful for the comfortable, peaceful place that I live in.

–I am grateful for the Pagan group here in Champaign, of which I am leader. It is running smoothly, and we are all connected as friends.

–I am grateful for all of the friends, and spiritual family, I have around me this holiday season. They have been a great source of support in the last few years.

–I am grateful for my creative skills. I write a great deal of poetry, and I do a lot of bead work. it is soothing, and it can benefit others. I love making things that are both beautiful and meaningful.

–I am grateful for my familiar, Lucia. There is nothing like unconditional love. The ritual energy support is nice, too.

–I am grateful to those who have helped me to discover suppressed and latent parts of myself. It is empowering to know more about what I want in life, and to understand the reasoning behind those desires.
