O Come, O Come Emmanuel

This is my favorite Advent Hymn. I love its haunting melody and plaintive cry for our savior. It makes me think of all the lost people who are crying out for Him, even, sometimes, with their angry attacks on Christianity.

At heart, so much of this culture’s anger toward our faith is a cry of unrequited love from people who don’t know that God loves them.

Yes, my favorite too. I particulaly like the use of the cello (if that’s what it is) in this rendition.

The cello does seem to lend itself to music of this sort, doesn’t it? I’ve been learning to play this on the piano. It’s challenging for someone who just started taking lessons in August. :-). I keep fiddling with the chords I use in the harmony to get the sound I want. It is so rewarding to be able to make this music myself. It feeds my soul.

Congrats on taking lessons. A number of years ago I tried to self teach and I stuck at it for quite a few months. It really helped me to understand music better. Perhaps one day I’ll have some time for lessons as well.

I’ve had to drop my lessons for December — going back at it in January — because of $$. I miss those lessons so much. I hope you can find the time to do it yourself. It’s a great experience.
