Seek Him this Christmas

The true meaning of Christmas.

This is the Christmas I’ve talked about for years. Mother was gone last Christmas, but only a few weeks, so I was just numb. It was always her thing to have everything Norman Rockwell perfect, which meant the day itself was anti-climactic, she was tired and cranky, and it was just something to get through. I’ve always said that when Mama was gone, Christmas would just be for Church and quiet time. Some friends invited me over yesterday afternoon, but I begged off that.

This year, for the first time since 1971, I chose to not attend midnight Mass. Circumstances precluded it twice, but I always said that when I don’t sing in choir anymore, I’ll go early evening or on Christmas Day. The early Mass was in Spanish, so Christmas Day it was, and a treat. Quiet and peaceful and in the daylight. I am getting soooo old! Got to be home after dark.

All in all, this was a peaceful, happy Christmas. Hope everyone else had as happy a tune.

Am glad your Christmas was just as you wanted it to be. My Christmas was as pleasantly busy, with a grandchild to make it better. He is 3 1/2, and his joy makes Christmas better.

Rebecca, did you happen to watch Midnight mass from St Peter’s? Hey always end with a beautiful song, Tu scendi dalle stelle. I love that and it really means Christmas. Bet Fabio would love to comment.
