The 10 Commandments (binary)

“’You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

Jesus wept.  And still does, I imagine.

    I would join in this.

I’m really sorry Lori.  I hope you have some luck soon.

    Ouch, Lori. My sympathies.

I always thought it was telling, too, Jesus’ conversation with Peter. “Do you love me?” “Of course!” “Feed my sheep.” “Do you love me, Peter?” “You know I do.” “Feed my lambs.” “Do you love me?” “You know I do! Why do you question this and wound me?” “Feed my sheep, then.”

First commandment: Love God. How? By taking care of your fellow human beings. Second commandment: Love your fellow human beings.

After 56 comments I’m sure this is a rehashed sentiment, but : that is genius. Incredibly clever and awesome. Did you come up with it yourself ?

I agree that the principle of reciprocality is, in and of itself, non-sectarian, but this particular version of it, appearing as it does in the Christian Bible and attributed to Jesus, is sectarian.

Or, to summarize: “Be awesome to each other” is not sectarian.
“Love the Lord with all your heart, and love your neighbor as yourself” is.
