Jeremiah 2:7

I brought you into a plentiful land
to eat its fruits and its good things.
But when you entered you defiled my land,
and made my heritage an abomination.

    I remember when I was young that at a certain time I started to pay attention to the bible.

    It just happened that Jeremiah was the bible book my parents were reading, so it weren’t the most uplifting kind of stories.

    (but then again he didn’t have a uplifting message to tell)

    No, but his mournfulness certainly inspired some great music.

    We have to pay for our drinking water, Our wood comes to us at a price.

    Obviously, Jeremiah was prophesying the rise of the bottled-water industry and the decline of the public water system, as well as the continued increase in home heating costs.

    And, as an older person looking at the difficulties so many younger people are having, I’m beginning to feel rather uncomfortable about Our fathers sinned, and are no more; and we bear their iniquities.

    When it says they defiled the land, it means they worshiped a god other than Yahweh. In other words its a statement of religious bigotry. What was Fred thinking?
