Superbowl Discernment Lesson

Superbowl Discernment Lesson February 3, 2015

We’ve all had a Seattle moment. It’s a crucial time, we have the power and the means but instead of using what we know we opt for the risky move and……game over, we lose. In spiritual discernment it is important to not just gather as many facts about the practical situation but to pay attention to them!

Many voices in our culture tell us, “take risks, it’s OK to fail—that’s how we learn.” That’s good advice if we are timid little creatures who never try anything new. But there is something to be said for sticking with what has worked for you for many seasons!

Let’s say you (like Seattle) know you have the power and the means, and success is so very close. If you know that powering through has worked for you in the past, maybe what the Spirit is saying to you is “use your wisdom and don’t do anything to pull yourself off course.”

I personally don’t care much about the Super Bowl or who won it. I didn’t even watch until the end. But the end game taught me a lesson in discernment. Staying with what works is sometimes the wisest course.
