Andrea Bocelli gets death threats, black singer called “Uncle Tom” over performing for Trump January 20, 2017

Donald Trump’s inauguration is really bringing out the best in people!

Like Bristol Palin said in her slideshow about performers refusing to sing for Donald Trump, Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli backed out after “backlash” from his fans. Well, as it turns out, that backlash included death threats! (What?!)

Even still, Bocelli, a friend of Trump, wanted to go ahead with the performance but has been advised that it’s not worth the risk. A source close to Bocelli said:

“Andrea is very sad to be missing the chance to sing at such a huge global event but he has been advised it is simply not worth the risk.”

Then there’s Broadway singer Jennifer Holiday, a Hillary Clinton supporter, who didn’t see any problem singing for a president of the United States. Plus, she had sung at both Republican and Democrat inaugurations before.

“I didn’t see it as singing for Trump; I saw it as singing for the people on the mall,” she said. Holiday vowed to “just get this done and then fight [Trump’s policies] vigorously.”

And for that she was called an “Uncle Tom.” Horrible people said her career would be over and told her to commit suicide. That’s just crazy!

“It just really made my heart drop to my feet,” she said. “How could I have this much hate spewing at me, and I haven’t even done anything? I guess it’s not like those old days when political views were your own and you had freedom of speech. … We live in a different time now, and a decision to go and do something for America is not so clear-cut anymore.”

People blame Trump for this, but this is what America is like eight years after of Obama. This is terrible.
