A student on the campus of Bowling Green State University reported that she saw a KKK member, dressed in a hood, in one of the classrooms. Here’s a screen shot of her tweet — but her account has understandably been made private since this incident. (The “play button” doesn’t work, but I’ve screen shotted the “hooded Klansman” in the photo above.)
But when the university investigated this possible racist activity, turns out is was a piece of laboratory equipment with a cover over it.
Here’s the “KKK member:”
As Jim Geraghty wrote on National Review:
… how likely is it that in 2017, a Klan member could walk into or work in a university building, in full Klan hood and sheets, and not be noticed? How likely is it that no one would react, or object, or cause a scene? We live in a flawed country and a flawed world, and racism exists. But a little common sense is in order. The average white person sitting next to you on the bus is extremely unlikely to be a Klan member, or a white supremacist, or a Klan sympathizer.
Of course, we all make mistakes. This happened to be the kind of mistake that epitomizes Obama’s “post-racial” America.
