Michael Dubruiel – R.I.P. – UPDATED

UPDATE: Read Michael’s staggering last column, written the night before he died. And another good one here about a priest who is one of my “prayer partners.” Talk about the Communion of Saints! Today, when I said my rosary, I invited Michael to pray it with me, for his family. And I didn’t even know that Michael and Fr. Solanus Casey were acquainted!

This is nice: OSV will double Michael’s royalties for his February book sales.

Awful, awful news.

I knew Michael. He was the one who said, when he was at OSV, “hey, you should write this chapter in the series; you’re good at death and dying.” A genuinely good guy.

My heart and prayers go out to Amy and his children at this terrible time. I pray that throughout the ordeal of the next few days, and the challenges that they will face in the coming months, they will feel the consoling presence of Christ and especially that his mother Mary – who understood all about suffering and loss – will be their constant companion.

Danielle Bean is collecting donations for Amy and her family, via paypal.

Like Deacon Greg, I urge you to think about picking up some of Michael’s books and giving them away. Faith formation was his specialty.

So sorry to hear of his passing. My brother, a lay minister, died very unexpectedly this summer too. Good, faithful men, spreading the Word and living it. I feel that there is a battle gathering in the firmaments and these wonderful souls are needed for that battle. Our prayers are with them all – and books are a wonderful thing to buy and share. Will do my best to spread the word about them. I’ll send the link on to the Weston Priory in VT – they have a wonderful bookstore. I haven’t been in the bookstore in a while, but I will check to see if they carry these books – and if they don’t, ask them to do so.

What awful news…prayers for Amy, the children, other family members and for all who loved and knew Michael. I know we are not to question the timing of God, but sometimes it’s hard not to.

I read this late last night. I’m so very sorry. Been praying for them throughout the day.
