Obama: The 4th best president in history?

I knew that anyone running for President needed a monumental ego to do so. But this is staggering.

Next to Obama, Bill Clinton is a model of humility and rational introspection.

He was the one he was waiting for.

How Obama Distorted Inequality Statistics in his 60 Minutes Interview

About Elizabeth Scalia
  • Jen

So did he actually say, “I’m the fourth best President in US history”?? Cause that would be a hell of a quote if he did.

  • http://pursuingholiness.com Laura

The ** possible ** exceptions… good grief! I’d certainly nominate him for Most Arrogant President In History.

  • Ben Thompson

Well, Obama has my vote as “Worst President in U.S. History”…

Never in my life did I ever had the thought of a President of “Which side are you on – America’s or who???”; however, with Obama it seems to be a recurring question.

  • Will

Did not hear the quote. Where is the rest of the interview?

[He puts himself after FDR, LBJ and Lincoln. Fourth best! :-) Full Transcript Here -admin]

  • KarenT

All of the presidents he named as possible rivals to his own record expanded the power of the Federal government – Lincoln primarily in civil war conditions (but also with go-broke programs like the transcontinental railroad), FDR and Johnson with massive progressive programs.

Maybe that’s Obama’s criteria for greatness: passing copious amounts of legislation and increasing the scope and power of the Federal Government. Of course, the programs of FDR and Johnson have already yielded bitter fruit, and are on schedule — with the added programs of Bush II and Obama — to destroy any prospect for prosperity for future generations. And tell me what great foreign policy accomplishments Obama might ascribe to Johnson which would counteract his policies in Vietnam?

Obama is a legend in his own mind.

Nixon also expanded the role of the Federal government. Quite a bit too.

  • Lindsey

At least Obama is still only referring to himself as a mere President.

  • Bill M.

Jon Stewart put it best: Obama “looks like he’s posing for a coin.”

  • http://jscafenette.com/ Manny

Hahahahahahaha! Didn’t Obama give himself an A- after that first horrid year?

If I could post a picture, I would post someone vomiting. This is repulsive.

  • Bro AJK

Ummm, which Pres. Johnson? Andrew or Lyndon?

  • Rich Fader

    Barry says the darndest things.

Sometimes I find myself missing the becoming modesty of Bill Clinton. How about you?

  • Libby

Huh…Obama’s not even done with his 1st (only?!) term and he’s already declared it a success. And to think GW Bush, when asked about his presidency, demurred by saying he’d wait and let history judge him.
Remind me again, which one of these guys is the genius?

  • http://www.grannyjanandjihadkitty.com/ Granny Jan

Obama is quoted 3 times in the video saying that his accomplishments surpass other president’s with the POSSIBLE exception of LBJ, FDR and Lincoln. If he were talking only about modern times then why include Lincoln?

The title, although not an actual quote and wasn’t put in quotes, effectively describes what he said. I try to make titles interesting. It wasn’t meant to be taken literally.
Actually, when he used the word possibly he left open the notion that he was even better than those 3 presidents. I gave him the benefit of the doubt. ;-)

The most interesting question we should ask is why CBS edited this provocative remark out of their on air 60 Minutes show Sunday night? They were carrying his water for him. That’s why.
    Thanks for posting.

“The issue here is not gonna be a list of accomplishments. As you said yourself, Steve, you know, I would put our legislative and foreign policy accomplishments in our first two years against any president — with the possible exceptions of Johnson, F.D.R., and Lincoln — just in terms of what we’ve gotten done in modern history. But, you know, but when it comes to the economy, we’ve got a lot more work to do. And we’re gonna keep on at it.”

“Obama: The 4th best president in history?”

The two quotes above are not the same.

  • Benn

I think were being too harsh, after all Elizabeth did vote for Bill Clinton who vetoed the partial birth abortion ban. 54% of catholics voted for Obama, it maybe up to 60% this time.

  • sjay

Will gets it right — it seems like a significant distortion of words and context to say Obama claimed to be the “fourth best President in history.” ODS strikes once again.

  • Ree Laughlin

Reel says: I just got back up on my chair after falling off from laughing at the Jon Stewart joke. Emperor Barrack indeed! On a coin, perfect. Gold, of course!
Please God for the sake of my sanity and our country’s future, let him be a one term president. Pleeeeeease!
