    There’s actually a Vatican board game in existence that plays out the election of a Pope. I wanted to track down a copy in advance of the conclave to teach my daughter about it, but the game seems to be out of print.     Nobody really decides the future Pope other than the Holy Spirit!

    I find one common refrain from some who criticize Benedict’s stepping aside sort of laughable. The refrain is the worry that his resignation will start a trend. Well, the last time a pope resigned was about 600 years ago. So what’s the trend?? One every 600 years or so. I think the Church can handle such a “frequent” problem.
