This may be the most important thing that the oblates do.I was recently speaking with the woman who was my wife’s sponsor when she converted to Catholicism, and she (the sponsor) was surprised when I mentioned that I prayed for souls of the dead every day. I don’t know which was worse, the fact that she was surprised that I prayed for the dead, or that she was surprised that I “still believe in Purgatory.”If Catholics such as her, who are involved in adult RCIA, don’t pray for the faithfully departed, how likely is it that they pray for the world around them that has yet to pass?
