… and Itzhak Perlman
a sound I’ve always enjoyed, in various forms.
Can’t believe you’re talking about Klezmer! I own Perlman’s In the Fiddler’s House and just adore it. Perlman is a flat-out genius.I have a love affair with Israel, anyway. My father also played the clarinet (and I tried, when I was younger, but failed…). I love Benny Goodman and, Klezmer. 🙂
Love Klezmer, as well. Family background is Polish and have always wondered whether going back far enough would reveal Jewish ancestry. I’ve always been drawn to Jewish culture.
Very cool!Itzhak and I share a birthday. With Van Morrison, no less.
check out the Cracow Klezmer Band, a highly recommended favorite for you guys.
I once met Jew who plays Irish traditional music: he joked that somewhere there must be an Irish guy who plays klezmer. I don’t know about an Irishman, but my husband is of Scottish ancestry, and he played keyboard in a klezmer band for about six months when he was in high school (he’d do it again if he could find anyone else to play with him).
