Yay! I am the new poster child for Catholic idolatry…

… The very first image in this anti-Catholic you tube video is of my very own home altar, originally seen in this post.

You know what they say… you’re not big time till some poor misguided prot misconstrues scripture and uses you as their “visual aid”.

Thanks for the anonymous tip.

Haha, apparently, I'm included among the idolaters as well, with my St. Joseph appearing at 0:58 and crucifix at 1.00. My Sacred Heart also appears 3:26 an finally, the thing almost ends with a my crucifix. Sigh…

Congratulations! This is a great honor that I don't think even Fr. Z has gotten. Of course we Orthodox are always ignored by these heretics who mostly haven't even heard of us. Sigh…In ICXCJohn

Oh my… I'm not sure if I've left you a comment before, but as a reader/lurker of your blog, I must say… wow… I think I should say congratulations, but I'm not quite sure. I grew up in a very strong Catholic community, so I find all these anti-Catholic discoveries online amusing because I never really knew this stuff existed.Heh… I passively watched the video and found a Crucifix that is in the Cathedral Basilica where I live. I might have to blog about this.

Anyone who can't say "similitude" properly has very little credibility, even for a crackpot Protestant. Also, I'm a little put off that my altar wasn't featured. *pout*

Lovely altar. You really are big time now!!! What a vile, idiotic piece of tripe. (Which I watched all the way thru in hopes of seeing my own May altar pop up :( )

What utter B.S. Everyone their own little "magisterium" — so grateful to be a Catholic. I'm wondering if this guy carries family photos in his wallet. According to him, that would be idolatry as well. Twit! I shut this piece of crap down at 3 mins. in. This guy's voice is irritating in the extreme.

If the guy had only been smart enough to use some of the examples from the Bad Church Art Contest, I might have been tempted to cut him a little bit of slack.

waaaaaah, YouTube's blocked at work, so I can't view this masterpiece. Can someone sneak it into another format, pretty-please with sugar on it? 😉 😉

I occasionally reuse pictures from the "anti-whore of Babylon" online crowd. They're often great pics of icons, processions, etc. Here's an example:http://byztex.blogspot.com/2009/06/train-boy-in-way-he-should-go-on-prayer.htmlRenew, reuse, recycle!

John (Ad Orientem),I know. Aren't you tired of having to tell your protestant friends that you are like a Roman Catholic, but you kiss more stuff?

Contact professor Scott Hahn at Franciscan University, he'll give u a counter, factual, scriptual, representation of your errors that u wont be able to hold a candle too…lol…are candles ok? Human pride is also one of God's biggest hurdles…Love, Love, Love…that's all we need…We will never all be on the same page…and that's a fact…

Who needs Scott Hahn? :) On the Divine Images by St. John of Damascus should be sufficient. It's ~1300 years old and still quite a good read.

You also come back up at 0:52! You ARE popular!

I love that you are in the first three minutes several times, along with our Holy Father–quite an honor, if you ask me. Interesting that PROTESTants never bring up the images which were made by Christ's followers following His death which have survived since the early days of the Church. Hard to refute things His friends kept (perhaps like the MASS, for Pete's sake) as a remembrance–by His own commandment! Also interesting–my security word here is "cowed"…..draw your own conclusions on that one. 😉

I'm a lurker Anglo-Catholic who discovered your site through the Ugliest Church Art Contest. After my eyes finished bleeding, I looked at the rest of your blog; funny stuff.I had to congratulate you on your recent Chickian acknowledgment. As a crypto-papist, I only get a slight nod as being a bread worshiping Mary lover.BTW: Beautiful home altar. We just moved into our new house so I haven't been able to set up my ikon corner. Right now, there's a few propped up by my kitchen sink. Brother Lawrence, eat your heart out.Pax et Bonum,-j (REAL ULTIMATE ANGLO-CATHOLIC)

The fellow's equation of "imagination" with "images" is very strange. He is quoting OT and NT places where his translation has the word "imagination" but what Hebrew and Greek words do they translate, and do they have anything to do with statues and icons? The evil imagination of one's heart is surely not directed towards an image of the Theotokos! I couldn't bear to listen to it past about that point. Anathema to iconoclasts!Susan Peterson

Does anyone else find it ironic that this goofy fellow actually creates and utilizes images in his long and idiotic condemnation of the practice of using images?

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/06117353945124506952 The Crescat

No… I was afraid to use my evil imagination.
