I think the Orthodox might have us here too…

… first they trumped with the vestments during Vestment Week, and I dare say they may trump us again during Liturgical Head Gear Week with these fabulous hats.

What Are Your Thoughts?leave a comment
  • Oh my, my, my…And I thought I was self-conscious in airports wearing a tunic and scapular!

  • The headgear from the clergy on the left appears to be from the later (Eastern) Roman Empire.. I have never seen clergy wearing such during any liturgical functions though. In ICXCJohn

  • I was going to say something but it was way too snarky. Have you ever seen a Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Honor Guard? Now THOSE are some funky hats! 🙂

  • I note the explanation on the source page which partly confirms my suspicions. In ICXCJohn

  • The headgear on the left looks like Chinese men during the Ming or Han Dynasty.

  • They look like real butt kickers for the Lord.

  • Sometimes, things go out of fashion for a reason — this is an example.

  • I guess they can come in handy when having a bad hair day…or maybe the bad hair would be better. Yikes!

  • Starfruit on the left, Pith helmets on the right.

  • I agree with "ringhtwingprof." The only way to describe these things is goofy!

  • Those hats on the left are the weirdest looking things I've ever seen.
