Childlike Enthusiasm…

… You see that? That right there. I want that.

I used to have that. I miss having that. Joanne suggested I write the pope. I just might do that. Hey, maybe I’ll get a phone call too.

Eh. Don’t mind me. I’m just feeling whiny.

    I miss it too… desperately. :(

Do it. Give up whining as a sacrifice. It really does change the way you think. I’m not being facetious. I often give up complaining for Lent, and it really makes me a happier person. Sometimes, acting like you’re happy is the first step toward actually being happy. Praying for you, my friend. And if the Pope calls you, give him my number! ;)

At WYD in Rio I think that we should have lifted one of the petite young ladies for the Pope to stop and kiss her thinking that she was just a girl so that we could see him from up close and get his blessing.

Whyyyyyyyy oh why do you miss that? I can only think of teeny boppers screaming for Elvis, hippies freaking out for John Lennon, and North Koreans weeping for Dear Leader. Do you really think even the Pope likes that sniveling? No, he does not. He is just being polite and waiting until the madness passes.

I don’t know. I kinda think Francis does like it. It makes him feel humble.

And it’s not the screaming after popes I miss, it’s the enthusiasm I miss. That unabashed joy.

You are right. He may be a bigger show-off than I thought.

I cried when Benedict resigned. Well, I did.
