Every year we do a WWJTD NCAA bracket pool.  Here’s a link to this year’s group.  Head over and submit your own bracket. The prize: the winner will be able to submit a guest post bragging about their superiority to all other contestants.  😛  Good luck, everybody! I picked Kansas to win for two reasons:  I think they have the best chance  I like sleeping next to my KU graduate wife rather than on the couch Read more

Hey guys, sorry for radio silence yesterday — we had a surprise house guest.  And since they’re still here, today you get tips on surviving a zombie apocalypse.  Enjoy!   Perhaps after seeing my blog about a prison being a great place to hole up while humanity falls, a friend sent me this link.  Apparently the Brompton Road Underground in London is for sale.  For those who don’t know, the tube station became a command bunker during World War II... Read more

I’d be Team Iron Man. Here’s why. The upcoming “Captain America: Civil War” film has the delightful opportunity to play up real passions and concerns about the role of government, for those of you who get excited about public policy.  😉  Check out the final trailer (Spider-Man’s at the end!): On a side note, I love the callback line used here which was from the first Captain America movie.  As you may recall the young and not-yet-super-soldier Steve Rogers was... Read more

Marco Rubio is banking on a big win in his home state of Florida.  Unfortunately (for Rubio), polls have Trump beating him by anywhere from 10 points all the way up to a 2-1 margin.  So Rubio decided to hold a rally in Hialeah to get his voter base energized.  Unfortunately (for Rubio), not many people showed up: Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) gave a rally in what he hoped would be friendly territory and not many people came, Talking Points... Read more

Woooooooooooooooow.  This morning Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) was on the radio show Morning Mess when he flat out admitted that if the President were a conservative that they’d happily let him appoint a new SCOTUS Justice: Strange, where the Constitution vests the President with the responsibility of filling vacant SCOTUS chairs, it doesn’t mention that he should only get to do it if he’s a conservative or if it would change the composition of the court.  One can only wonder how... Read more

In an absolutely bizarre ruling a federal judge has ruled that Obergefell does not apply to Puerto Rico: In Vidal v. Garcia-Padilla, (D PR, March 8, 2016), a Puerto Rico federal district court held that the recognition of same-sex marriage in Obergefell v. Hodges  does not bind Puerto Rico until further action by the Supreme Court or Congress.  Relying on the so-called Insular Cases decided by the Supreme Court in the early 20th century, the court said “jurisprudence, tradition and logic teach... Read more

Two brothers in Spokane, WA were collectors of old arcade cabinets (y’know, the big ass machines that ate all your quarters and made arcades popular back in the 90s).  They soon encountered a problem: they didn’t have enough space for all their games; The Arnold brothers purchased the arcade games from a vendor who could no longer store them.  As one brother explained: “Well, we filled my basement. We filled my brother’s basement.  We filled my friend’s garage.  And then we... Read more

When a few nuts kill a person on merely the accusation of burning their favorite book, then you can claim that they’re just shitbags. But when the Supreme Court lets them off the hook, then it’s religion making people and entire societies indistinguishable from psychotics: One defendant was the custodian of a holy shrine who trafficked in Viagra, condoms and pagan amulets, and who, when exposed, falsely accused a young woman named Farkhunda of burning a Quran. Another was an... Read more

Good morning, all!  Here’s a touching story out of Australia: Tattoo apprentice Whitney Develle, 22, posted to Instagram and Facebook last week to pledge one to two days a week giving free tattoos to those eager to conceal old scars. The post has since gone viral, receiving thousands of likes and shares. Due to high demand, Ms Develle has since been forced to amend the original text, offering a total of 50 free sittings in addition to discounted tattoos for everyone else.... Read more
