Rome is a truly amazing city. I worked hard whilst there but did get some time to take pictures too, so I have plenty to share over the next few days!
It has to be the only city in the world so casual about its abundance of ancient treasures that you can just sit on a wall right outside a building like the pantheon which has come down to us largely intact from Roman times.
I have to say that it did have quite an impact on me being surrounded by so many ancient buildings.
There was something about having the modern right up against it that reminded you that we too will pass, and that we are in the context of what has come before. We have to learn to treasure both the old and the new (Mt 13:54)
