Pyromaniac RIP long live team pyro?

Pyromaniac RIP long live team pyro? January 25, 2006
Being a singleton blogger is hard work.  The heat can really get to you after a while.  So, whilst you could say that the pyromaniac brought som  of it on himself, I do feel sorry for him in his blogsaustion.  His blog really was too successful in too short a time for anyone to deal with emotionally, mentally and in terms of the time demanded.  If blogging stops being fun and becomes a chore, it is wise to consider a break or even to lay down the blog altogether.

Oddly, regular readers of my blog will have noticed that I have been somewhat less obsessively committed to updating this month.  Real life has begun to intrude – a house move, three talks to prepare in one week whilst still working full time in a secular job, and new responsibilities at church leave little time to engage in what remains a hobby rather than a job.  I can fully understand Phils decision to go for the group blog route.  I wish him well.  But I am not about to close this blog down.  For me, group blogging doesnt attract me as much, or at least not as a replacement for this blog.  I do enjoy some group blogs but I feel that some loose the sense of intamacy and an individual voice that a single-writer blog produces.  Perhaps there is something about having a group around you that removes some of the pressure to post.  Pressure can be good, and produce real gems of posts sometimes.  But if pressure becomes too much as it clearly has for Phil, moving to a group blog is probably the wise approach.

I sincerely hope that I didnt contribute to the pyromaniacs demise – perhaps he’s just too scared to face Warnie in one on one combat over tongues (joke!).   I also sincerely hope that his group blog will be even more successful than the singleton.  I havent dared to pop over there yet, because some of pyros friends scare me and so I am not sure I want to find out yet who Phils favoured contributors are just yet…….
