Pray for your preachers. Pray for the lost

Pray for your preachers. Pray for the lost February 25, 2006

I wonder, how many of us at this time on a Saturday find our thoughts turned to tomorrow morning. If your thoughts are turned there are your prayers turned there? If your prayers are turned there, what do you pray for? Do you pray for the worship – good job that you do! Do you pray for the preacher? Please dont forget to! If you have extra prayers, why not pray for other preachers you know – I am preaching tomorrow and would love your prayers! But when you pray for the preachers are you praying only that their sermons will touch the hearts of believers who hear? If so, may I encourage you to add to your prayers. Why not pray for them that God will unsettle your preachers. That God will provoke them to disquiet, to a longing for SOULS. Pray that they will preach in such a way that a great number of people will believe (See Acts 14:1)

Josh Harris has a great Spurgeon quote: “‘The Holy Spirit will move them by first moving you. If you can rest without their being saved, they will rest too. But if you are filled with an agony for them, if you cannot bear that they should be lost, you will soon find that they are uneasy too. I hope you will get into such a state that you will dream about your child or your hearer perishing for lack of Christ, and start up at once and begin to cry, ‘God, give me converts or I die.’ Then you will have converts.’
