Updated NIV Text Available for Online Viewing November 1

As I grew up the NIV was very much the standard translation of Evangelicalism. There has been much controversy over the TNIV in particular because of gender language.  I suspect that the release of a newly revised NIV which is said to be reversing some of the more controversial of the gender changes will lead to much interest.  I certainly advocate Christians owning more than one translation and comparing them as they study. The text of the new NIV will actually  be released online very soon and before the book versions are available:

Cape Town, South Africa – October 18, 2010 –Today, at the Third Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization, Keith Danby, CEO of Biblica, and Moe Girkins, CEO of Zondervan, announced that they have received the new update to the NIV from the Committee on Bible Translation.  Although the print form will not be ready for release until next year, they have decided to make the text available to view it online at www.BibleGateway.com  and www.Biblica.com beginning November 1.
