Blogotional: believes that more than preaching is needed for our lives to be transformed. I do beleive that God uses other means, but I also believe that there is more of a link between our initial salvation and working out that salvation than it seems my friend is implying. Faith is what saves and transforms us in my view and the primary source for that faith is hearing preaching- yes other things help but listening to preaching is the most important.
I have preached on this subject this very morning from Romans 10. It may be helpful to see those notes, or indeed listen to it when it is placed online in the next couple of days. Incidently there probably wont be much if anything from me this week as I am going away to a course.
