Remembering the Mini-Revival at KEGS Chelmsford

Remembering the Mini-Revival at KEGS Chelmsford 2023-02-22T06:22:54+00:00
In My Story part four (which is part of possibly the longest running and most spread out series in the history of blogging!) I spoke about my experience at King Edward VI Grammar School (KEGS) in Chelmsford. It was great to get an e-mail yesterday from someone else who remembers those days.

I realised some time ago that you were probably the same Adrian who I knew as a teenager in Chelmsford. And your story part 4 seems to have confirmed it for me . . .

I was in my late 20’s by 1984, and at St. Mary’s, Great Baddow . . . I remember you from inter-church events, and also because I was involved at St. Mary’s with several of the boys from your school who were in that mini-revival.

To me also it was “the nearest thing to a revival I have ever experienced” – and I have also experienced the Toronto Blessing, although in my case only this year! When I met with your school friends (and maybe sometimes with you) “the presence of God was in the room in such a weighty manner.” For me also, “I can only remember a handful of other times in my life when God has felt as close as he did at those times.”

Sadly neither I nor my e-mail correspondent are still in contact with the other boys from that revival time – nor for that matter the girls from the nearby High School that used to join us for a Christian Union at the time. If anyone out there also remembers this time or knows someone who told them about it, I would love to hear from you, too!
