A few days ago I was walking my girlfriend to the bus and found a rented DVD on the sidewalk. I picked it up and put it in my pocket and took it to work with me, and watched it that day. It’s still sitting by the dvd player.
Someone had obviously dropped it on the way to returning it to the store, and will have to pay for it now. I should have taken it to the store and saved that person some money, but I didn’t.
Also once when I was in a fancy hotel bar I looked across at where someone had just gotten up and left their brand new cel phone on the stool. I put it in my pocket and listened to it frantically ringing all night as the person whose phone it was tried to locate it.
