Passion for a purpose- why did Jesus die?

I know its rather late to talk about The Passion (although the DVD comes out soon!) but, hey, its an important subject!

The last couple of sermons I preached have asked the question What was the purpose for the passion-or Why did Jesus Die?

It might surprise you to note that thus far in the series I have focussed on the birth of the church as being the reason for the passion. We tend to think too much in an insular way these days, and forget that ultimately Jesus died for his bride.

Christianity was never meant to be the individualistic religion that western nations have made it. It should be all about the growth of the people of God.

We should ask less what can the church do for me and more, what can I do for the church?
