Lambs, snow, mountains, and streams. It sure beats sitting nose-to-bumper in London traffic! This was a truly awesome journey, which I made to the accompaniment of Handel’s Messiah. Somehow the music seemed suitably grand and majestic for the scenery. Amazingly, I had my first sighting of sheep at the very same moment that “Behold the Lamb of God” began. A lump appeared in my throat. Somehow the baby lambs looked so innocent. How amazing that the innocent Lamb of God... Read more

I can hardly believe it! New Word Alive is suddenly no longer a far off event to which we can look forward, but is now upon us. By the time you read this, all the preparations will have been made and the long car journeys completed. Usually at a conference like this there are two groups of attenders—old hands who feel like they are part of the furniture, and the newbies. This time we are all first-timers since, while New... Read more

Yesterday morning I preached a sermon at Jubilee. The following notes are almost identical to the notes I used while preaching. You can download the audio or listen to it right here. “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant,... Read more

Today I have been blessed by an avalanche of birthday wishes via both e-mail and Facebook. These have come from people I have never met in the flesh, people I only met in the flesh because we got talking online, and people who I used to know and regained contact with through the net, as well as some of my offline friends. These people come from all kinds of church backgrounds, and only this Internet could have brought us together.... Read more

I have just been listening to a message by my pastor, Tope Koleoso, who was recorded at a recent conference on building a multicultural church. I have become so used to what God has been doing these past couple of years at Jubilee that I sometimes need to remind myself that genuinely racially integrated churches are actually far from common. We truly have a lot to be grateful for. I really think you may well enjoy listening to Tope on... Read more

The 2008 conference season is upon us. If you haven’t finalized your plans to attend conferences, you had better move quickly as many of them are set to sell out as they did last year. I will be attending two conferences, and will be live-blogging both of them. The first is a brand-new conference called New Word Alive. This runs from the 7th to the 11th of April. In addition to reporting on the sessions, I will be recording video... Read more

It was a real delight to read Tim Challies’ post several days ago in which he described his growing love for and commitment to his local body of believers. It is a post that has been on my mind for the past few days, and I would strongly encourage you to go and read that post, and perhaps listen to Tim’s sermon, which led to his post. I feel that I would like to add my own thoughts here to... Read more

In a variation on the “Ask a Blogger” theme, I received this e-mail, which was effectively asking Doctor Martyn Lloyd-Jones a question. “I have been doing some research lately on the revivals in Wales and the ministry of Christmas Evans and have come across an emphasis in the Welsh Revivals and in Lloyd-Jones on unction in preaching. Even C. J. Mahaney referenced this in a recent post on his blog: Recommended Chapters on Preaching. Long question, short: Is there anything... Read more

I wanted to share a brief video greeting with you this Easter, and to point you to three sermons I have preached that you might find interesting at this time of year. The first two are my Easter Sunday sermons preached the last two years. The third is not an Easter sermon, but it is about the resurrection. Have a great Easter, I will be back on Monday! Resurrection Hope—An Easter Sermon An Easter Message—The Jesus Who Polarizes People The... Read more
