Some people have queried whether it is right to call certain top blogs “christian” when they mainly focus on politics. Personally, when I see someone as popular as La Shawn willing to stick her neck on the line with a post like here recent one What It Means to Be a Christian I am very proud of her indeed. She is in the top 50 of ALL blogs, yet bizzarely she is not well linked within the blogdom of God... Read more

BBC NEWS has more damning news from the UN about our lack of response to the people of kashmir: ‘This is not enough. We have never had this kind of logistical nightmare ever. We thought the tsunami was the worst we could get. This is worse.’…….. ‘Tens of thousands of people’s lives are at stake and they could die if we don’t get to them in time.’…… He said the international community had only given firm commitments to fund 12%... Read more

Every now and then you discover a blog and you think, “why o why wasnt I reading this before?” Today’s warnie award ceremony brings you not one but two of these. Both of these blogs seem to have been touched with the influence of Piper to a greater or lesser extent. Both of these blogs seem to be being linked to in quite a number of places at the moment. Both of them are the rare kind of blogs that... Read more

I thought I’d try a little experiment today. Searching Google Blogsearch for the acronyms of bible translations, then ranking them by number of hits. In the blogosphere we can become so insular and read only blogs that agree with us. As a result I might for example come to the conclusion that the ESV was the bloggers favorite translation as it sure does seem to be so in my neck of the woods. Actually, considering the attention given to the... Read more

Carla has been very kind about todays sermon: “Today I wasn’t able to go to church, so this afternoon I sat down and listened to Adrian Warnock preach on the good news when feeling rejected. I’ve never listened to one of his sermons before, but let me just tell you, this one is very good. Very edifying, convicting, thought provoking….. She continues in characteristically kind manner, but then right at the end she let the cat out of the bag... Read more

George Carey has been announcing the imminent death of what he calls “The Church” but I suspect may mean the Anglican Movement. Over at the Telegraph is an interesting article which quotes GK Chesterton: ‘Five times in the last 2,000 years the Church has to all appearances gone to the dogs. In each case it was the dogs that died.’ The article is much more hopeful about the kind of church I attend: “Looking closely at Brierley’s statistics, three patterns... Read more
