“he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast purpose” Acts 11:22 It is indeed true that the Christian walk is not a sprint but a marathon. The bible clearly anticipates that believers will persevere to the end. I want to see a robust faith in God that clings to him throught all that life has to throw at us. I am no believer in “easy believism” and am convinced that it is the same faith that... Read more

Thought Id share a couple of interesting links people have put up to my blog lately Sven rightly points out the areas of disagreement he and I have then describes Jollyblogger as ‘The American Adrian Warnock’- I expect David would be as honored as I am. I am not aware of any other pairing of bloggers who have worked so closely together and struck up such a friendship without first knowing each other! David and I see things from such... Read more

Churches that are truly multicultural are few and far between today. I am thrilled to be in a church in London which genuinely is not monocultural. We represent our area well and have people from many nations a part of us. I believe this approach is biblical- in Acts its says that there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who on coming to Antioch spoke to the Hellenists Acts 11:20 The believers did not try and start... Read more

Winning a Warnie is so graciously received these days that it must cause non-bloggers to wonder. After all a Warnie merely represents me feeling that a particular blog is worthy of recognition. Previous Warnie winners do nominate new members of this exclusive club, but it is I who has the final say and should take the credit or blame! Some have wondered why most Warnie winners are non-Americans. Well, I suspect this may be because Warnies tend to be issued... Read more

Am going to start a series based on the sermon I preached today “What kind of churches change the world?” The Full notes are available online but I intend to explore some of the ideas more fully here. The first thing to say about the sermon is that I was thrilled that someone made a public declaration of faith at the end of it. Despite this, the subject matter was highly relevant to the more mature Christian and especially to... Read more

Blogotional: is insightful even for him with this quote “the reception of the gospel is not a one time event, but a lifetime journey.” I think we are beginning to converge. Without wanting to speak for David from Jollyblogger too much I think it is fair to say that neither he nor I would measure our success in preaching by the numbers raising their hands on a sunday morning or joining an altar call. We do call people to make... Read more

Wittingshire: On Boys and Bikinis shares a conversation had with her eight year old son: “‘Why do girls go around in bikinis?’ he groused. ‘Of all the dumb things to wear.’ This struck me as funny, which provoked him still further. ‘It’s just like underwear,’ he said. ‘They wouldn’t go walking down the street in their underthings, would they? So why go around in bikinis?’ ‘Girls wear bikinis because boys like them,’ I said. He stopped short and stared at... Read more
