I suspect these sentiments are rather more common in the US than anywhere in Europe. It is I am sure important to understand the view of the Americans looking at this complex issue through ‘911’ glasses. Not even the most pro-Iraq war Englishman would be likely to hold unswervingly to these sentiments, but even the most anti-war Englishman will surely understand a little where these guys are coming from if they replay those images of planes crashing into towers that... Read more

Our American cousins must be scratching their heads. First a spluttering rebellion against a man who hasnt actually held the office of prime minister results in a sudden death at the hands of a tiny electorate (the minuscule parlimentary Tory party). Now, with no build up, no likely contenders, and with such an air of stage management we have possibly chosen our next prime minister. Mr Howard is portraying himself as the unifying candidate (one can’t help but wonder what... Read more

At Halloween I can sometimes feel my meanest “Halloween is a celebration of evil, and evil really exists. Halloween has become a celebration for impressionable kids ” and because of views like that, I tend to either ignore the door or open it and say something weak like ‘sorry I don’t do haloween’. Is it mean to impressionable kids who don’t know what they are doing? Or is it an attempt to ensure that at least at my door they... Read more

In the USAa custody case Judge has ordered that a child’s religious upbringing must not expose her to the idea that homosexuality is in any way wrong. Whilst the circumstances of this case are probably heartrending, it seems to me that a Judge cannot prohibit someone teaching their child views that they believe to be from the bible. That is not to say that hatred of homosexuals should be tolerated in any circumstances, however. Read more

The folly of so called scholars never ceases to amaze me. Claims that Jesus had a wife are as foolish as anything I have ever heard and have no substance to them whatsoever. Read more

Thanks to Blandus Rex for pointing out that today was important for other reasons. On this day in 1517, Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses to the door of the church at Wittenberg and changed the course of history. It seems that Haloween has seen some interesting events- according to the History Channel this was also the day that Stalins body was removed from Lenins tomb and the day Houdini died “Houdini had been talking to a group of students... Read more

Abortion laws in the UK may fall foul of the European constitution. Professor Jack Scarisbrick, national director of the charity Life, said he was confident they could win. ‘If you have a law which says special needs children can be killed, you are clearly practising eugenics,’ he told BBC News Online. ‘It is weeding out substandard human beings.’ ” Of course UK laws are not fully applied as it is- the law states that abortion is allowed only where the... Read more

The Mirror reports: “HE’S used to adoring fans throwing themselves at him but the last thing Daniel Bedingfield expected was to find one of them soaking in his bath.” I know some of you are thinking some guys have all the luck, but I would imagine this was actually quite a distressing experience for the famously celibate rockstar. Read more

After being in three different European countries in two days its great t be able to blog from the comfort of my hotel room. I was lucky enough to be delayed at Heathrow the other day so that in fact from my waiting lounge window I got a perfect view of the last three commercial landings of concorde. This made me think of several things. 1stly life is about being in the right place at the right time and mostly... Read more

The Obvious? states “for leaders who have forgotten how to talk like human beings, who are so used to being in charge that they think they are above the fray of human interest and human passion: as we get used to more humane and egalitarian conversations on the Web, we never want to go back to those leaders and companies who only know how to talk down to us. So, what lessons do we learn about leadership on the Web?... Read more
