The apotheosis of the Dierne is a few days away, and I want to cover the three basic parts of the celebration that laity or those interested in the Otherfaith should focus on when July 31st rolls around. As with the basics of the entire Otherfaith, we’ll be focusing on contemplation – the symbols and meanings surrounding the holy day – daily action – how to approach the day and what to avoid in terms of concrete actions – and... Read more

The apotheosis of the Dierne is one of the most important holy days in the Otherfaith. We celebrate a variety of things on this day, though it is mainly about the Dierne becoming a god. What we focus on, though, are the events leading up to his deification. Read more

I wrote back on my post about the Dierne that he is the one I would most easily call modern. He’s chic and fashionable and fancy, and he’s vain and shallow and self-absorbed. the Dierne is all about beauty and excess. So, it fits that one of my devotional projects for him is called the ‘Vanity Project’. Read more

There’s this really weird, occasionally awful, dichotomy when you’re building a religion to be communal all on your own. There’s the tight, unpleasant feeling of needing to worship with others but not having those others around. I’ve been seeing this really weird idea floating around as I wander through blogs. The scuffle that occurred over May and June is being presented as a polytheist vs. non-polytheist debate, or a humanist vs. polytheist scuffle, or a Pagan vs. polytheist fight – and that’s not what happened. Whatever the fight developed into, it didn’t start that way, and attempting to present that it did is either purposefully or unintentionally dishonest. (In which case, the ‘polytheist side’ really needs... Read more

Faeries have individual cultures, and there are no hard and fast rules. Yes, even that rule about never eating faery food isn’t perfect. This series is much more based on my lived experiences with the faeries rather than lore, though, and the only culture I’m focusing on is the U.S blend. Read more

The monsoon rains finally came. The clouds hung in splotchy black chuck across the sky, their grey drizzle as patchy as they were. I made it home just in time to bake cookies and hear the first thunder and raindrops fall. Read more

What I’m needing feedback on is what you, as readers, want to see concerning information about the Otherfaith. Are you more interested in theory, or are you more interested in practice? Read more
