075: What Do Catholics Believe About the Rapture? (w/ Carl E. Olson)

075: What Do Catholics Believe About the Rapture? (w/ Carl E. Olson) September 2, 2020

In this episode of The Cordial Catholic Podcast, I’m joined by author Carl E. Olson to talk about what Catholics believe about the end times, the rapture, and dispensationalism.

Carl grew up in the thick of fundamentalist, dispensationalist theology before becoming a Catholic along with his wife and has written a fantastic book on the subject. He joins me to unpack exactly what Catholics believe about the end of the world as well as where belief in the rapture comes from; the historical roots of the rapture, the development of the theology, and how a literal or plain sense meaning of the texts which underpin dispensationalist theology are simply untenable.

Plus, we talk about some of the dangerous anti-Catholic origins of the dispensationalist worldview.

For more from Carl visit his website and be sure to check out his book Will Catholics Be Left Behind as well as his many other fantastic books. He can also be found at Catholic World Report where he is the editor.
