I wanted to share a brief thought from last night with you guys. It was a touching moment for me.
I do not usually have the opportunity to put my daughter to bed. Mommy and her have their bedtime tradition. However, my wife is on call and at the hospital saving someone’s life so tonight I got to my daughter down. It was absolutely amazing. I could not help but think how much I love her and how my life literally is meaningless should she ever be lost forever. I cannot fathom spending eternity in heaven while my daughter be tortured in literal fire and brimstone. That is no heaven and nothing could wipe the tears from my face should that be the case. Well, nothing short of God making me ignorant to what is happening to her under His watch or hardened – hardened just like him it would seem. And if that is the case I will walk right out of those gates that are promised to never shut. I would rather spend eternity in hell with my daughter than eternity in heaven without her. The reason is eternity in heaven without her is hell.
But, we are all so truly blessed that God is like Jesus and our beautiful savior speaks a better word than Abel. He speaks not with vengeance and retribution but mercy and grace. He speaks not of sacrifice, but offers Himself freely for us all. Even as He hangs on a cross, uttering over and over “Father forgive them, for they know not what they are doing”, He is even then only doing what He sees the Father doing; which is forgiving.
It is quite a blessing to know I will spend eternity with my daughter, wife, and everyone.
