6. Gulzaar Halaal (San Jose, CA) – Moving closer to North San Jose, Gulzaar Halal has changed ownership a few times over the past 12+ years with each owner keeping some of the original Lebanese menu items, but adding their own cultural favorites such as Indian Biriyani and Afghan Kababs. These are good, but the main things to try at Gulzaar is the Beef Kebab Sandwich made on a french roll with lettuce and shredded carrots, cucumbers and mayo. Another favorite of mine is the Jebneh which is a simple flatbread with melted white “arabic cheese” on top (The kids love it since its like a cheese pizza)! P.S. Also make sure to try out the Kanafeh, which is surprisingly very good!
