Rally for Sanity and/or Fear: Muslims holding signs October 31, 2010

During this past summer of discontent towards Muslims and Islam, two of the most effective defenders of Muslim rights were Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, who helped skewer the anti-Muslim sentiment that seemed to be growing day by day. At this past weekend’s “Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear”, the two faux-news comedians managed to provide a safe space for Muslims, both on and off the stage. Many Muslims who attended took the opportunity to express their feelings in the same humorous way that Jon and Stephen used to help defuse tension.
