6 Key States and Numerous Local Elections Crucial for American Muslims

Pennsylvania:

There are several races to watch in Pennsylvania. Sen. Patrick Toomey (R) and Democratic candidate Katie McGinty are competing in a hotly contested battle. Toomey has yet to endorse or distance himself from Donald Trump, and McGinty could benefit from a strong win for Clinton in Pennsylvania.

Two congressional races to watch are the PA 6th and 7th districts. In a normal election year, these would seats would be secure for their Republican incumbents, but this year anything but normal. Congressman Ryan Costello (R) has been challenged by veteran and businessman Mike Parrish in the PA 6th District. Given his strong military background and appeal across party lines and with independents, he has emerged as a strong contender.

Congressman Patrick Meehan (R) of the PA 6th District is defending his seat from Mary Ellen Balchunis, who is campaigning hard for the second time in an attempt to unseat the incumbent. If there is a strong showing of women coming out to vote for Clinton in her district, the down ticket effect could improve her chances. – Wendy Keslick, EmergeUSA
