Texas:

Texas races are fairly low-profile this election cycle — no senate races and no state-wide races for governor, lieutenant-general or comptroller in Texas. But there are some competitive races in Muslim-heavy areas. Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson is running against Kim Ogg in the state’s largest district attorney’s office in Houston. Anderson bested Ogg two years ago, but that was before the district attorney’s office was mired in scandal and charges of impropriety.

This race touches on hot-button national issues like death penalty, mental health and the Black Lives Matter movement.

Texas’ only competitive congressional race is in District 23 with U.S. Rep. and Republican incumbent Will Hurd squaring off with Democratic challenger Pete Gallego. This race covers 29 counties in southwest Texas and has flipped between the Republican and Democratic candidates many times over. This will be won on small margins. – Nabila Mansoor, EmergeUSA
