January: Wheaton College and Larycia Hawkins

Evangelical Wheaton College pursued the firing of Dr. Larycia Hawkins, who’d announced on Facebook late in 2015 that she would wear a hijab during Advent to show solidarity with Muslims. She’d also said that Muslims and Christians worship the same God. The latter statement especially caused great strife and controversy, due to certain covenants educators at the college are to adhere to.
