#3 Life Doesn’t Stop with Fasting
We all would like to pull back some during Ramadan. However, life rarely comes to a grinding halt for many of us, and we must continue to keep in touch with what is going on in the world.
The struggle against oppressions (racism, Islamophobia, misogyny, etc.) does not become dormant as we adjust our eating patterns, and there is a continual need to know what is happening – especially under the current administration. Issues remain and new ones come up that make it necessary to stay informed about what is happening and what advocates and activists need for us to do.
In addition, there are appeals to donate time, energy and money to endeavors about which many of us would be unaware if it were not for social media posts. Opportunities to reach past our localities to support projects give us a variety of chances to spread our generosity during Ramadan, as the Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) did.
Social media can be a powerful spiritual tool that we can use to augment our Ramadan experiences and draw closer to Allah. May Allah bless us all with success in this life and the aakhirah [hereafter].
