Francis Chan: A Warning to Young Pastors

Francis Chan: A Warning to Young Pastors

In an earlier post, I quoted Jon Acuff who said, “If you’re preaching the gospel on stage, but not living the gospel off of the stage, you’re not a pastor, you’re an actor.”

This has been my biggest question in my own personal life, what does it look life for me, for us, to all follow after Jesus with all of our hearts, minds, soul, and strength? I think and I worry that we’re not doing that. I look at scripture and at the examples of the apostles in the NT, and their walks, their lives, their love for Christ is daunting… and somewhere, some how it became okay to not strive after matching their passion and intensity not only for the gospel but for Christ Himself.

Francis Chan is a guy who seems to have similar convictions, and who has rebelled against supressing his convictions but instead, acted on them. I found this short clip of him giving some advice to us young pastors, check it out:

How can we avoid this?

How have you seen this played out in your own life?

What does scripture say about those who preach biblically but live contrary to what they preach?
