Lent, It Ain’t for the Oppressed (Here’s Why)…

Lent, It Ain’t for the Oppressed (Here’s Why)… 2018-03-05T19:25:53-05:00

But, let me give a very short, historical overview to make sense of this…

“Lent is traditionally described as lasting for 40 days, in commemoration of the 40 days Jesus spent fasting in the desert, according to the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, before beginning his public ministry, during which he endured temptation by Satan.”

It’s meant for those celebrating the resurrection of Christ; not for those celebrating the crucifixion and death of Christ.

Many of us are aware that the story of Jesus has drastically changed. Historically, some, understandably so, blame Constantine. I mean, He did a lot of stuff… to say the least.

But, one of the things Constantine did (in relation to lent) was to co-opt and therefore redefine the chi-rho.

What’s the Chi-Rho…? And, Who is Constantine?
